Design is business. Effectively managing a creative team takes more than great design skills, it takes an understanding of the business side of design. My experience as a Creative Director has allowed me to build a design team from the ground up, documenting department process, creating hiring process and structure for salary reviews and incentive programs.
Growth comes from the constant drive for knowledge. As Sally Hogshead says, "Aspire to be the dumbest person in the room". Through an active involvement in national design business conferences and a continued service of executive board level positions for professional organizations such as AIGA and the American Advertising Federation's Ad 2, I have had the opportunity to create dialogue with a diverse group of professionals about their process and business development.
