Help for Atlanta's homeless gets a new look
April 2008 - Right now in Atlanta, there are close to 5,000 families who desperately want a place to call home but who spend night after night in a shelter. At the same time, there are thousands of Atlanta area realtors and landlords who have been hit hard by the current real-estate market and need tenants. What brings these two groups together? Atlanta's own Helping Home Foundation has the answer.
Helping Home Foundation brings together these landlords and families and creates a unique opportunity for both parties. Through donations and fundraisers such as scholarship raffles, Helping Home Foundation is able to offer 12 months, non-emergency, interim housing for families in dire need of assistance. In turn, Helping Home Foundation pays a fair-market value for the rental property, as well as a security deposit and a 10% maintenance fee for their families to the participating landlords. The result is impacting lives in Atlanta in a big way.
Recently, Jennifer Louis worked with Helping Home Foundation to redesign their website and elevate their online brand to match their real world impact. With an aggressive SEO campaign, Jennifer was able to achieve a search result improvement from page 28 to page 9 within the first month for targeted keywords. In addition, applications were converted from PDF to online forms to improve form completion rates and ease of delivery to associated landlords. The streamlined online application process and improved search results meant faster help for more families.
The new site, www.helpinghomefoundation.org, has taken dozens of applications and donations since the launch. Online donation payments, raffle purchasing ability, and landlord/tenant application processes allow more people than ever to become a part of and benefit from the group's mission.
